DRA 1. Taking Organized Notes

1. Take organized notes on readings and apply them to written responses.

Description

Last semester, I wrote some lecture notes in NSD (Note-taking, Speech & Discussion) class. I had a lot of time to listen to the lecture in the last class. The task was to summarize the content of the lecture, and I had to learn how to paraphrase, get information to write a general idea of the lecture. The purpose of this assignment was to develop students’ note-taking skills and prepare for the test using these notes. NIC students generally listen to lectures two or three times.

Reflection

At first, I found it difficult to write well-organized notes, and did not know how to write them. The most difficult part was writing notes using symbols and abbreviations because I was not used to using them, so I had to memorize them. I also tried to listen to lectures while understanding where the keywords were and leaving some space in the notebook that was useful when adding the content. These ideas made it easier to take notes and I learned how well-organized notes can be useful for the test.

Application

Through last semester, I gradually acquired skills to write well-organized notes. I now use these note taking skills in my current NSD class and feel the experience of learning note-taking skills is very helpful. I hope to study in a science faculty, so my future class will be more complicated and taking organized notes will be very important, so I think learning these note-taking skills will help me understand the content of the class better and study more effectively.
