2. Summarize advanced readings.

Description

I read many books in the assignment called x-reading. The aim of x-reading is that to encourage students to read a lot. I had opportunity to read paper books (graded readers) as well as online reading through the x-reading program. I had to read one book page about 20,000 per week and write a book report every week. x-reading is great ways to build my vocabulary and see the structure of the sentence through extensive reading.

Reflection

At first, I did not used to read English paper/online books, so it took time to understand the content of the books. In addition, because some books were high level, so the vocabulary was difficult, and it was hard to think of ways to paraphrase the content when summarizing it. Through this assignment, I was able to memorize difficult words and improve my grammar skills. Moreover, I got used to English books and able to read them quickly.

Application

In the future, I will have to read a lot of books which is more difficult. In addition to the ability to summarize, speed reading and comprehension skills will also be required in the academic fields. By continuing x-reading, I can acquire these skills and will no longer be resistant to reading. If I can summarize the books well, I will be able to understand the content of the text better and it also helps me to prepare the tests.
